Adopt-A-Bed

The Adopt-a-Bed initiative is a great way to foster community involvement and city pride. Each year, over 60 volunteers sign up to plant and maintain garden plots in over 10 locations around the city, including: Princess Park, Stanley Park, and the Community Sportsplex.  Volunteers include individuals, community groups, and local businesses from Brandon.  A big thank-you to the Parks department for all the additional help!

It kicks off with our Spring Planting Days, where volunteers and city staff meet at the designated gardens and plant the flower beds. We provide volunteers with snacks and refreshments, and make sure to snap plenty of pictures! After planting, volunteers are responsible for checking on and maintaining the gardens on a regular basis throughout the growing season.  This year, Spring Planting Days took place on May 25th, May 30th, May 31st, and June 1st.  Each time and day is different depending on the location.
